How To Live The Dream God Gave You

One of the biggest jobs we have in life is the job of making decisions. It’s a job that is given to every single person— and a job that can not be avoided. Life is full of “this” or “that”s…. and the choice is always yours to make.

Recently I had the opportunity to experience a dream coming true. A dream I’ve dreamt for 6 years and a dream that required me to become a whole new person, and go through a whole lot of ups, downs, confusion, work, rest, joy, love, & trial and error in order to become the kind of person who could live out the dream I was standing in, 6 years later. And when you reach a moment like that— a “holy shit, look what you’re doing right now…” moment— you tend to reflect on what you learned… and what worked for you in order to get you to that point.

It didn’t take me long to pin point what one of the biggest difference makers for my path was. Mostly because the emotion of how hard it was to do them, and the exhale I felt to be standing inside the dream right then… took over me. And I’m sure you know where I’m going:
Decisions.

The amount of no’s I had to say in order for the “Yes” in my heart to come to life- I can not count. I know they hurt. And I also know they felt empowering. I know they changed friendships. But I also know they changed my life course. And I do know that ultimately, every “no” was some of the best decisions I could have made.

I have a neon sign in my room that reads “Heck Yes”. And I bought it because I love that reminder of saying yes to what IS a wholehearted, full-bodied YES to your soul. It’s just that sometimes the irony of saying “Yes”, is that a lot of times it comes out as “no”, first. Because in order to say Yes to going left… you have to first start by saying no to going right.

Yes and No are truly more than just a job— they are your superpowers. They hold magic. They invite love. They give love. They set boundaries. They take you to see new places. They avoid heartbreak and they create opportunity. And the key to “Yes” and “no” is knowing what you want to embody. Having a dream or a vision of where you want to go and what/who you want to become.

One of the biggest jobs we have in our life is the job of making decisions, and it’s a job that is given to every single person— a job that can not be avoided. Our lives are full of “this” or “that”s…. and the choice is always ours alone to make…

But in reality, it’s so much more than just a job. Yes and No make you possible. They are superpowers.

So what will you do with yours?
