The Guidepost That Leads You To Exactly Where You’re Meant To Be

I discovered something a few years ago in the midst of the season of life where we search a lot. A lot of people reference it to their 20’s. (I can’t believe I can sit here at the tail end of mine and speak to this.) But I discovered something within this season- a season that is often filled with a lot of confusion about what the heck you’re doing- that really helped to give me a deep knowing about where I was going.

I knew I wanted to be a leader. I knew I was here to make a difference.
But how I was going to do those things was an ever-revealing journey that I had no choice but to trust and simply take the ride for.

So when the options and directions became overwhelming— I created a North Star for myself. I called it:

“Your Giving Zone.”

[Where does love flow for you? Where do you effortlessly put in all that you have? Where do you, without anyone asking you, put in all the extra hours of unpaid work or personal time- because you want to..? Where do you give best?]

Here’s why I love it:
It immediately cuts out so many other options. Options that I had on my list or in my mind for reasons other than my own. Because they were cool, because I should, because it made good money, (** insert personal reason here** ). And it narrowed down my focus about my next step almost instantly.

Where do I give love effortlessly?
Where is my
heart?
Where would I spend my time regardless of the hours and work?
Where am I a giver?

The Giving Zone saves me time and time again. When the world gets shiny and I start to follow it here and there… letting my energy leak in all the places I wasn’t called to serve and serving where I am called half heartedly (because it’s all I have left)… I stop. And I remember where I love best.

Now this isn’t my advice to stop loving everything else that exists outside of this zone. It’s just my advice when you’re trying to zero-in on what kind of difference God called you to make. Where you should put in the work for his glory. And when you’re trying to find the areas that need you most.

And it also doesn’t mean that work gets easy. It means it’s the place where you’re willing to acknowledge the gap from where you are now and where you want to be— or where you’ve been called to be— and you’ll do whatever it takes to show up and develop yourself to get there. Because the motive is love. And that’s as powerful an engine as you’ll ever find.

It’s your giving zone. It’s so damn simple but I promise it changes everything. When you keep your eye and heart and efforts where God is for you, you’ll never lose your way. You’ll always show up at your highest potential. And the effortless flow of love that you will inevitably give- and because energy attracts energy- receive… will feel a whole lot like freedom. And success. And fulfillment.

It’s your giving zone.
Stubbornly stay in your zone.
Follow it wherever it leads.
It was created for you.
