Born To Lead
One of my favorite things to talk about is evolution. Change. Not just talk about… but, pursue. And encourage other’s in their pursuits of the same: the next, most True level and version of their Self.

I’ve realized that not only is it where I learn the most— in the process of change— but it’s the moments I’m most proud of. It’s the in-between moments that no one sees. It’s the sweat, it’s the tears, the time, the prayers, and every gut-wrenching no and courageous yes I say to (and for) myself. [Cause without them? There’s no change.] It’s all the moments that no one sees where you choose to uproot what you’ve always known… for the possibility of what you’re supposed to become. And those are the moments & seasons I love.
That’s the stuff that sets me on fire.
And I think it’s because I know it. Deeply. Those moments. Cause evolution has happened so many times for me. It’s happened as an athlete in college- where I’ve shown up an entirely new person, physically and mentally, from one year to the next. It’s happened post- athletics when I had to figure out how leadership worked outside the lines, in real life- with different talents. It happens every January when I fast. And it even happened in just this last year: where my life has shifted in the exact way that God & I talked about it shifting back in January.
I love to talk about it because for those who are in the evolution game and pursuing it, we know that it doesn’t happen on accident. We know that it’s no fluke. That every choice we make, and all the effort we put forth, is on purpose. And we also know that we have no choice but to pursue it because: Renewal.
Because when our insides change… our outsides demand to match. Otherwise, we feel off. Out of alignment. And far from who we actually are.
We have no choice but to pursue it because THAT feeling?
There’s nothing worse.
The feeling when your integrity is gone.
It’s paralyzing and defeating… and it just sucks. Cause it’s not you. It’s not what you’re capable of. And you’re wildly aware that… it’s not what God made you for.
But here’s the good thing about those crappy feelings:
they’re the stuff that leads you back home.
They’re the information. The GPS. The exactly-what-you-need to get you where you’re really headed.
And the ones who evolve and experience a sense of renewal? They know this. They feel them and they let them guide them back home.
So yes, I love talking about change and evolution because I don’t believe in living in state of paralysis, auto-pilot, or the feeling of consistent defeat. I believe in feeling them but I don’t believe in conforming to them. I believe in transforming the world you live in because of the renewing of your mind. And heart. (I believe in renewing your mind. And heart.)
Because I know that without a doubt, when change calls you— it is never on accident. It may not always feel good, but it is always perfectly purposeful. I know without a doubt that it’s within the transformation that you can always re-find the good. Where you can return to the pleasing. To peace. To the sure fire within you. To yourself, again. To your full power again.
I love talking about change and evolution because I believe you were born to lead. So don’t conform and don’t be afraid. Transform. I promise you, it’s just The Plan in-action.
