The Power Of Community
If you thought back to the most fulfilling days of your life- and I asked you to describe them for me… what would you say? Would you talk about how fit you were? Would you talk about the place you lived? Or the mindset you had?
If I asked you to tell me about an extremely fulfilling day… how would you describe your mornings, your daily activities and choices, and your evening? How would you describe your most fulfilling weeks? Months?
(If you want to stop and pause here, to think about it… please, feel free. I want this in your head.)
For me, my most fulfilling days can’t fit into one box. There are multiple to pick from and they are all unique in their own way. Whether it’s sweating, playing, dancing, traveling or just being. But if I reflect hard enough… I do absolutely notice a theme. A constant that I can take with me as a key ingredient to cooking up more fulling days in the future. And that was no matter where I was, or what I was doing, one thing always held true… what really made the difference was who I was with.
Whatever crazy hilarious conversation I got in to, doing X, Y, Z. Whoever shamelessly danced next to me during X, Y, Z. Whenever I got to have a super cool conversation that caused my mind to think beyond it’s normal thoughts of X, Y, Z. Whoever left me in a constant state of laughter during X, Y, Z. And every time I had an army of people to lean on, turn to, cheer for and be pushed by- while taking on X, Y, Z.
But, that’s just me.
So If you reflected on the most fulfilling days of your life- and I asked you to describe them for me… what would you say? Would you talk about how fit you were? Would you talk about the place you lived? The mindset you had? …or would you tell me who was there? Would you tell me what you laughed about? How long you danced? When a conversation caused a monumental click for you? And what milestones you achieved because of the support?
There’s no right or wrong answer here… I’m only asking.
But maybe suggesting that your fittest days, the most beautiful places, and your most resilient mindset— may have followed who you surrounded yourself with.
Powerful.
