Is This Honestly What Life Expects From Us?

Fact: Life doesn’t wait for you to be ready. Nor does it give a justifiable reason for the moves it makes. Life isn’t going to stop in it’s tracks to make sure you understand. It just moves. And asks you to keep up.

As humans we always seek this, though. Just a little understanding, please. A reason. A purpose. We seek logical sense. Because let’s be honest, we’d feel a lot better about that. Or- we’d feel a lot better telling other people about whatever shifts and decisions we’re making, if we had that— some logic. If our life and our choices and our reasonings were perfectly packaged. Easily understood by all. And made perfect, respectable, acceptable… sense.

(It’s ok… we’re all in this together.)

But here’s the thing. When you’re playing the game and working for something bigger than you… something beyond what you can see— none of that exists. The certainty is gone. Justifications and reasonings are communicated through gut feelings, not road signs. And they’re not felt by everyone… just you. Your life just moves. Regardless if you’re ready, without an announcement, a warning sign or a logical description of why. It awards you with a personal message made for only you to be effected and moved by… and asks you not to question. And instead, to play along.

How sweet of life to send these messages, right? To make our experience here so personal and curated to us. But doesn’t it know how damn difficult that makes it?

Doesn’t it know it makes the explanation hard? That no ones going to understand us? That we’re now going to have to make moves relying only on our gut feeling and something we can’t even see to guide us? How does it expect us to do that? To follow a road that we can’t see? To sit behind the wheel and willingly put the car in drive without filling the empty seats with people who get the journey we’re setting out on and want to come along? Doesn’t it know how damn difficult that makes it?

…I think it does.

So do you think it honestly just expect us to listen? To trust the resistance we feel to logic- even though logic would be a lot easier to justify? To trust the peace in our heart when we just know, but can’t explain (the one no one else can feel)? Does it honestly expect us to commit to taking the trip without any road map? How are we supposed to post on social media and say “look at my life!”… if we don’t have an understandable reason for what we’re doing? Is it honestly asking us to move in the direction of the tug on our hearts, listen to the whispers of our curiosity, trust the gut feelings, the signs that show up as ease in our life, and follow something that our eyes can not see and minds can not rationalize? Depending on nothing and no one else but these things alone? Is this honestly what it expects of us?

Yeah….. I think it is.
