Right Here, Right Now.
There is no rush to define yourself. To have it "all figured out”.
The more time I’ve spent with the Big Man upstairs, and also spent time listening to the ones who've been on this earth longer than I have, it has become very clear that "figuring it out” is.... a waste of time.
Here’s why:
Rushing to the next certainty only gets you there..... quicker.
And then there you are.
And all the time in-between? Well you spent it stressed, stuck in your own head, anxious, and missed.... well, Life.
And life? LIFE is lived in the small conversations. The wrong turns. In exploring new things. Spending too many hours reading in the coffee shop. Walking aimlessly. Running. Dancing. Life is lived while you’re busy playing.
When I learned this… it felt like instant peace. All of a sudden I was given permission to enjoy the life I actually, really wanted to live. I was given permission to be right where I was. Just as old/young as I was. Knowing/not knowing just as much as I knew, and permission to be O.K. with all the distance I still needed to go.
There is no rush. No finish line. Life is Now.
Not when it's all figured out-- but smack dab in the middle of when nothing is.
And the coolest part is that it's actually intentional that we don't know what's coming. God did it on purpose. So that we can enjoy here and now. He wants us to miss nothing at all. He wants us to be right where we are. He delights in us enjoying it (hello LOVE).
Cause we're growing now.
We're learning now.
So Joy & Love & whole is now.
So the least you can do is show your appreciation by taking full advantage of… now.
There's wine to be drank and dance moves to bust out, trails to run, mountains to climb, oceans to swim in, lives to change, states and countries and back roads to explore, people to talk to....
And it's all right here, right now.
